HEALTH CARE
Over the backs of many belligerent members of Congress, the American people have finally scored a victory in the ongoing battle to improve our health care system. We are not finished. We have not gotten all the improvements to our system that are so long overdue. I want to join Congress to continue this epic battle to stand up for the rights of middle class Americans and small business owners in being able to provide affordable and efficient health care for all Americans.
I am still a strong advocate of H.R. 676 which would provide a more comprehensive approach to our health care needs. In the mean time we must continue to fight for improvements in this bill.
I also believe that we must put the competition back into the pharmaceutical drug market by allowing prices to be negotiated by State and Federal entities.
I believe that we need to reauthorize and expand the State Children's Health Insurance Program (SCHIP).
I support the creation of a Public Health Workforce Scholarship program, and increasing the amount of healthcare worker training programs and the overall numbers of health care professionals in our country.
I believe that we need to encourage research that has been held back for too long. The United States leads the world when we use facts and encourage science rather than cutting our universities and closing our minds.
