Pat Meagher was an early supporter of Barack Obama and is proudly looking forward to the changes we have all hoped for.
While we have not seen either the scope or depth of change that was believed to be forthcoming, our President has moved this country in directions that should ultimately benefit all Americans to have a better life on a daily basis.
Below are excerpts of a speech that Pat gave on January 30, 2008:
“It is time for change.
It is time for a candidate like Barack Obama who believes that the 2008 campaign is about progressing on the issues that face all of our citizens, not just the special interest groups or corporations that pay homage to particular politicians.
Senator Obama stands for real change, and real progress.
We need to end the politics of polarization. Barack Obama like Pat Meagher wishes to be the voice for all Americans.
Like Barack Obama I believe that the war in Iraq is over, we have won, it is time to bring our glorious and victorious troops home.
Like Barack Obama I believe that the education of America’s youth is of tantamount importance. We must radically redesign No Child Left Behind and fully fund our educational system.
Like Barack Obama I believe that we must have tax fairness for Middle Class Americans.
Like Barack Obama I believe that a health care system that leaves 51 million people uninsured is not acceptable for the greatest country in the world.
It is time to make progress on the issues that affect us all on a daily basis.”
